There were a few sprinkles of rain when 6 of us set off for a walk along the Yankee Trail in Queen Elizabeth Park, Paekakariki. It soon cleared up and we had a pleasant walk, stopping to inspect the information regarding the fault line we were standing on and the US Marines Memorial. This is dedicated to the American marines which were based at Mackays Crossing and Paekak during WWII. We then walked towards the beach and came back via the Coastal track which has lovely views of Kapiti Island.
We retired to a cafe at Paekak for coffee.
