It was one of those in-between sort of late spring days when we set out on this lovely walk which winds through native bush. We took the easier route which winds up by zigzag along a bike path. The other option is around 650 steps. Faster but much harder! After over an hour of zigging and zagging, we were quite pleased to break out into the open. Most of us have walked this a number of times, so no-one felt the need to head up to the lookout, opting instead to have a late morning tea or early lunch.
It started getting a bit chilly as the wind had got up, so we set off down the 4-wheel drive track which can be a little steep in places and easy to slide on the loose gravel. Towards the bottom we came across a mountain bike timed event. So, we stopped to watch a couple of bikes head down a track I wouldn’t even dream of walking down. They were leaving in 30 second increments. We came across a few more people on bikes puffing away up the hill, probably to join the others.
Once back at our cars, most went on to have a coffee at Columbus. Our walk took us around 2.5 hours.
