We all met at the carpark in Battle Hill on a crisp but promising looking day. There was no wind and just a few clouds floating round. We set off just after 10, heading uphill almost immediately after we entered the track which was through beautiful native bush. It was a steady and at times quite steep climb, but we had several breaks to catch our breath and as we got a bit higher admire the glimpse we got of the views. The surface was surprisingly good, considering all the rain we have had recently. After about 45 minutes we left the bush and had about 10-20 minutes of traversing open ground. The first group reached the top and were on their way down the hill again, when the next group arrived at the sign. Most of us went up the quite steep 60-70 metres to the top but didn’t linger as it was very exposed and blowing a strong, cold wind. After a few quick photos we headed down to join the others to have a snack, but they had moved on. It was all downhill through farmland so took us about an hour to get back to the cars. We hadn’t stopped for a snack or lunch so some of us went to Ground Up for a coffee and a cake/slice instead!
