It was a cold but clear day as we set out from the top of Normandale Road. The first part of this walk rises slightly and passes through trees. It was very cold in this part. After a km, we came out into the open and as we made our way along the track Wellington Harbour came into view. We stopped for photos before heading through a paddock and down a track to join Hill Road. From this junction it was a quick walk along to the old laboratory, now used as a toilet block for the Belmont Regional Park. Up the hill we went, past the farmer’s house and the turnoff for the airstrip. This track also leads down to the Porirua side of the park. We continued along past the shearing shed on the hill and then came into a blustery wind. We start walking down the hill so I could point out Boulder Hill to some of our walkers before turning back. We stopped for lunch by the toilet block before retracing our steps back to our cars. As there were no cafes in the area, we had a cuppa back in Silverstream at the bakery.
