It was overcast and slightly blustery when 12 of us set out from the car park on Onepoto Road and followed the track past the boatsheds and around the bay. After about 20 minutes, the track came to a junction, where we took the inland track which steadily climbed through the valley and towards the top, where we were opposite part of the Titahi Bay Golf Course, famous for being the club where Michael Campbell played. From here is was a steeper drop down to Onehunga Bay where we stopped for a quick drink. We then followed the coast around to Kaitawa Point where the rocks stopped us from going any further. By now the wind had become quite blustery and we set off back to Onehunga Bay with the wind at our backs. We found a spot out of the wind to have a quick bite to eat before following the coastal track back to the cars. Thank goodness the wind was behind us! We arrived back having walked around 10kms and all felt very refreshed. Half of our group finished up with lunch at Mitre 10 in Porirua.
