Starting from Awakairangi Park, Totara Park, 8 of us climbed up
to the Cannon Point Trig via Birchville Dam on a rather pleasant
winter's day. The track under foot to the dam was in good condition,
considering the rain we have had in the past week. Upon reaching the
dam, we stopped for a quick break. The spill from the dam was not as
fast flowing as one would have expected after the rain that we had.
After a few photographs we continued our way up the Trig. On this
part of the walk, the track was a little muddier and wet. Upon reaching
the Trig we sat and had lunch and took in the views, which are now
becoming a little more obscure, owing to the under growth growing
taller. After lunch we continued our way down to 3 Skulls Road and back
to the cars at Awakairangi via California Park. We then went to Mitre
10 for Coffee and treats.
