On a sunny day with little wind our small group met at Adventure Park and headed to Duck Creek near Whitby Collegiate to have a look at the group of large eels in Duck Creek. We continued on the sealed walkway and after 15 minutes headed up the zigzag path to The Yardarm where the group had a break at my house, before carrying on to Bradey Park for a look at the view. Leaving Bradey Park we walked down to Meridian Way and then onto Spinnaker Drive to pick up the bush track which leads to Spinnaker Lookout which provided a great view over Whitby and Pauatahanui Inlet. We had a break here for snacks/lunch and a group photo before heading back down to rejoin the Whitby Walkway, passing the grassy area near Discovery School where the daffodils are only a couple of weeks from coming out. We enjoyed a coffee at Niche Café in Whitby Village, after which we did a circuit of the lake before returning to our cars, about 3 hours after setting out.
