9 Club Members meet opposite Equinox Cafe on Fergusson on a misty winter’s morning. Everyone was wrapped up in hats, gloves and puffer jackets looking forward to an enjoyable walk in perfect conditions. We crossed Trentham Memorial Park to Moonshine Bridge. Because of the heavy rain the day before we decided to abandon the planned route along the river track. Instead, we walked under Moonshine Bridge and up Kirton Drive turning right on to Riverstone Drive. Following this we veered left when we came to the new unnamed track to Whakatiki Bridge.
By then the mist had lifted and after a stop for morning tea everyone was happy to continue along beside the horse paddocks to Totora Bridge. Major development underway resulting in traffic being controlled for both pedestrians and vehicles.
We walked back to Equinox Cafe along the stop-bank in sunshine most of us enjoying coffee and snacks before heading home.
Distance covered: 14.5km; taking 3.5hrs.
