5 of us set out on this walk in conditions at that time looked a little
precarious, however this did not eventuate. The weather improved
immensely as we continued our walk. We made our way to the Silverstream Bridge to access the path to the western side of the Hutt River also known as Te Awa Kairangi. Once on the track we had to keep our eyes peeled for egressing under Moonshine Road to get to the Keith George Memorial Track. Again, we nearly walked past the entry, however this was spotted by one of the walkers, down we went and into the tunnel/pipe to get onto the track. All in all, the track was in good condition which was rather surprising after all the rain that we had been experiencing over the last few months. We had a couple of stream crossings and these were navigated by all without any issues. Once we came off the track, we then came up onto the service road of the power company. We decided we would stop for food/drinks a little further on. We had a couple of good concrete blocks to sit on and enjoyed the sun that had come out. After the break, we continued onto the Manor Park over bridge and made our way to the walk/cycle path that runs parallel with the Manor Park Golf Course. This path led us up to the Silverstream Bridge, walked along the bridge and then dropped down to the eastern side of the river to pick up the track to take us back to County Lane and the cars. We then made our way to the Silverstream Bakery for coffee and treats.
