We had a beautiful sunny day to do Thursday’s Walk in its entirety. It wasn’t all quite plain sailing with a runaway dog, a directionless walker and a misplaced phone. All was sorted and we traversed 10 kms of Underhill Road on both the Featherston side and Greytown side. The road ends at both sides due to the Tauwharenikau River. The Featherston side, most found more enjoyable possibly because we had fresh legs, inquisitive cows, horses and a donkey coming to greet us. Apart from the 1km of bush around the river, this walk is all gravelled back country roads. It is the views and relative quietness (not too many cars or other bikes) that make this a bit special. Everyone’s feet were feeling it by the time we got to Woodside! So, a cuppa at the Greytown Deli was much appreciated. Most of us indulged in a sweet treat!
