The last walk for our Festival of Walking over Easter was Canon Point. This one was a shortened version, going up the zigzag and back down along 3 Skulls Road. We were lucky yet again with the weather when 6 of us plus one dog set off. Bit of a slow slog going up, but it always is with me and weariness from the last 4 days was starting to set in. At the top a lady who was on a road trip and staying in Upper Hutt for a couple of days kindly took our group photo. She also walked with us on the way down. Canon Point is a lovely walk. My one grumble would be that Greater Regional Council don’t believe in topping native trees. I feel if you have made the effort to climb a rather large hill, you deserve to enjoy a stunning view. As this is what is used to be.
At the end of the walk, 3 of us decided to have a coffee at Mitre 10. It was a pleasant way to round off the weekend.
