We set off from Fergusson Drive on a lovely spring day, through Domain Bush and came out near the sporting grounds where Lorraine was waiting for us. Then it was over the stop bank and into Moonshine Park. We followed the gravel road along to the road bridge. Crossed this and went through the underpass into Riverstone. We turned left onto a bush track which follows the river to the Whakatiki Stream. This is a lovely bit of bush and has had a lot of maintenance. What had been a steep bank down to the river is now steps and a couple of bridges were put in. Once we reached the houses, we stopped for a quick snack before coming out onto the road. We followed Riverstone Drive onto Kirton Drive and back to Moonshine Park. This time we walked along the stop bank before turning into Barton’s Bush. From the playground, where we were trying to figure one strange piece of equipment, it was a short walk back to Fergusson Drive. Most of the group hopped across the road to have a coffee at Equinox Café while I raced home as I had a fencer arriving to build a new back fence. The walk took about 2.5 hours and we walked nearly 10kms.
