13 club members enjoyed perfect weather for this scenic coastal walk. From Burdan’s Gate it is 7km to the Lower Pencarrow Lighthouse where we stopped for lunch. The trail winds its way along the coastline of Wellington Harbour and the shores of Cook Strait. After lunch 6 members decided to head up to the historic lighthouse which added another 3km loop while the remainder walked back along the road following the coastline back to the cars. Most of us stopped for a coffee in Eastbourne.
Pencarrow Coast Road is a popular easy route used by many cyclists and family groups. Volunteers were seen having a beach clean-up. Dogs are not permitted on the track during lambing season.
