12 of us enjoyed a pleasant day making our way to Baring Head
Lighthouse. Conditions overhead and underfoot were surprisingly good after all the rain we had over the last week and what was forecasted for our Sunday walk. The walk started with a flat terrain, followed by a undulating shingle track. Once we were off the shingle track, we made our way up the unsealed vehicle track, once at the top we took a water
break. From there we made our way to the Lighthouse. A few of the walkers had not been on this walk previously. Time was spent checking out the light house along with the small museum and other information regarding the site. We took time to have snacks and liquid refreshment before making our return trip back to the car park. We decided to take the high track for our return journey. Again, members who had not done
this walk took time to check out the WW11 Lookout, while the rest of us took in the great views over toward the South Island, Cook Strait and Wellington. Once we regrouped, we made our way down to the car park, followed by warm drinks and treats at California Garden.
