Nine of us set out under cloudy skies, fairly confident we would complete the walk in the dry. However, the forecasters got it wrong and the rain arrived only 45 minutes after setting out so luckily as the walk was a couple of loops, we were not far from the cars when the rain started. Fortunately a group photo was taken early before the rain started.
Our walk started at Adventure Park, and soon we joined the Whitby Walkway stopping to have a look at the eels in Duck Creek, then heading up a zig zag path to The Yardarm, where we had a brief stop, before continuing up to Bradey Park for a look at the view over Pauatahanui Inlet. A set of steps took us back down to the road and after a few minutes we headed up into the bush of Spinnaker Hill. At this point the rain started so we took the direct route back to the carpark, stopping to admire the daffodils outside Discovery School, and for a coffee at Nishe Café in Whitby Village.
