We had a perfect day for walking around part of the Pauatahanui Inlet from Motukaraka Point. The six of us set out on a crisp but extremely clear morning. The tide was out so there were a large number of mudflats showing but the water further out was a beautiful, so still and had amazing reflections showing. We walked the 2 km’s to the Jet Ski Boatshed and continued along the Camborne Walkway passing the boatsheds lining the bay just before we reached Ivey Bay and the road bridge. One of the boat sheds had a poem by Sam Hunt on one side and a painting of him and his dog on the other side. Once at Ivey Bay we stopped for a group photo and a lady about to go for a swim stopped to take a photo of us all. We then watched her and a friend take their plunge into the cold water. We continued walking under the road and rail bridge and around the marina before walking through Ngati Toa Domain back across the road and returning to the beach. It was a quick walk back to the cars after we stopped for a break at Camborne Beach.
We then called into Ground Up Café for a coffee before heading for home.
