Sixteen of us started this walk from Kiwi Crescent, Tawa. It’s a popular trail in the Nga Ara o Rangituhi network of walks in Porirua region. There was a mix of terrain with a long very gentle uphill zigzag climb to the top where you join the Te Araroa walk down towards Ohariu Valley, where the group encountered a farmer moving his alpacas and sheep. We returned the same way back up the Te Araroa track, deciding not to take the Meridian Road. We had lunch at the top before returning back down the zigzag track to our cars. We finished with coffee at the Tawa factory shops. A very pleasant walk in nice conditions.
