Springtime and the weather was holding for us. We started from Friend St and climbed up Hatton St to the entrance to Johnson’s Hill. It was a fairly steep bushwalk for 60% of the way with a mixture of track and steps. We broke out into some scrub for the balance which was all steps, some very steep!
After enjoying the views at the top, it was down the track to the Skyline Walkway. Parts of this was very exposed and windy. It was nice to walk through sheltered pockets. We stopped for a group photo at a water tank with the most amazing murals on it, before walking through pines to the turn off to Karori Park. It was down through the pines, where there lots of tracks going in all directions. We finally came out onto the park and went across to the café for some refreshments. After a 30-minute break, it was another half hour walk through the streets back to our cars.
