It was a different walk to that advertised, but considering the weather, probably a better choice. We all met at Awakairangi Park in a brief shower (we had a couple along the way). We followed the river Trail through the park and headed in the direction of Bridge Road. We came across a lovely guy from the Regional Council out spraying Old Man’s Beard. Had a lovely chat about weed control and why so many views are being obscured. Main reason is lack of budget. Off we went along Bridge Road and after crossing the bridge onto Akatarawa Road, then encountered some traffic control, where a new mobile tower was being installed. We had our own green light allowing us to walk across this bridge. Then after a photo and morning tea break, we weaved in and out of a few trails, streets (including Linda’s, where she spotted us and waved out) and the top of Harcourt Park before following the trail back to the Duck Pond. From there it was a 15-minute walk back to the cars. Some of us went down to Mitre 10 for a cuppa and spot of lunch.
