What an amazing day 5 of us enjoyed last Sunday. Wellington certainly put on a great sunny day with great views over the harbour. We started our walk from Kowhai Street. The start of Butterfly Creek track starts with a sharp incline walk to the top, along the way we stopped and enjoyed some of the views over the harbour. After reaching the top we then started our way down to Butterfly Creek. This is a very well-groomed track along with board walks and steps. The bush and the Beech Trees are amazing. Upon reaching the end of the track, there is a great picnic area, providing seating and trees for shade. Great family area. After drinks and nibbles, we returned on the same track to make our way back to the top to pick up the track to take us down to the Bus Barn. Once on the track to the Bus Barn, again great bush in this area along with views again over the harbour. The track is very popular for both walkers, dog walkers and runners, we certainly encountered many on our walk. Once we came off the ridge line we started our walk down to the Bus Barn. After coming off the track we made our way across the road to have lunch on the seating close to the Memorial for the sinking of the Wahine.
After lunch we made our way back to the cars via the road and then coffee in the village of Eastbourne. A most enjoyable walk.
