We were lucky to have another fine but cooler day when we parked near the Upper Lake and made our way to the lookout. After a photo we moved on and climbed the Kaitoke Hill Track. It was quite a climb interspersed with some steep dips, which made the track feel longer than it was. Finally, we came out by the underpass going below SH2 and crossed the road to enter Station Drive. We stopped halfway along here and shared the table with a father, young son, and dog out on a walk. The day had warmed up considerably and now refreshed, we made our way to Tunnel Gully and out of the park following Plateau Road. We were lucky enough to find Helena home and she kindly offered us a cuppa. We spent a lovely hour in her garden chatting and drinking tea. Then it seemed like the road went on forever as we made our way back to the cars. Note to self – next time park closer to the Golf Club so we balance the road walking portion. But it had been a lovely day out with good company.
