Tunnel Gully Loop

Thursday - 16 June 2022

After all the bad weather and cancellation of the last 3 Thursday walks, a lot of club members were champing at the bit to get out. Luckily it was a beautiful morning and 10 of us got together at various points to walk. This must be a record for a Thursday walk!

We started from the end of Parkes Line and walked up the hill to the old tunnel. Ian had already walked down from Plateau Road to meet us there. Although pretty dry, there were a number of potholes towards the end to be avoided. We were joined in the car park by Heather and Jean. Part way through Tane’s Track, Dan joined us.

It was rather lovely in the bush and the track was looking very well groomed and pretty dry. We did bump into some rangers who had been clearing up some debris from the storms last week, so I guess they were responsible for the track looking so good. We had a few stops along the way to admire the waterfall and a viewpoint.

Once off the track, 7 of us decided to walk some of the Incline Track as well. We went as far as the picnic table and stopped for a cuppa before retracing our steps back to the tunnel and down the hill.

We had been out walking for about 2.5 hours including breaks and it was just so nice to be out in the fresh air on such a lovely day.
