Boulder Hill, Belmont Regional Park 20th March 2022

The four of us headed off up the hill on a beautiful sunny and calm day. Unusually calm for Boulder Hill. We met a woman, who was looking for a special watch she had lost while throwing sticks to her dog. It was like looking for a needle in a haystack, but we got her phone number and promised to look for it.

Going up the hill we had to stop now and again to catch our breath. A good excuse to look at the beautiful views of the Hutt Valley and the Harbour. We stopped for morning tea at the sign telling us it was another 600m to the top. We managed the rest of the way without stopping and were rewarded with a very clear view of the South Island and Plimmerton Inlet.

After taking numerous photos we headed down the hill again, while keeping an eye out for a tramping pole left behind further down during one of our stops and the watch we had promised to look for. The pole was found where expected and lo and behold also the watch, which would have made the owner very happy indeed.
