Colonial Knob Cycle Track – Thursday 28th April 2022

Five of us left Upper Hutt for Colonial Knob. We arrived just after 10am and walked up the cycle track. Last time I walked this it was extremely muddy but it was a while ago and is now covered in gravel making the ascent a lot easier. There were a lot of shortcuts in the gradually looping track and some of our party made use of them. This meant no Certificate for walking the entire 6kms. It was beautiful bush which had breaks every so often offering great views of Porirua Harbour and more as we got higher. The track comes out by a lookout point with nearly 360 degree views. Transmission Gully was particularly impressive. After a quick lunchbreak, we walked down the faster descending gravel farm track in 45 minutes. Those present had enjoyed walking somewhere new.
